In the News/Press Inquiries. June 16, 2004.  Work of the National Products Utilization Research Unit, Oxford, MS, was mentioned in an article by Katherine Tallmadge in the Washington Post (page F01) entitled Berry Bonanza.  The article said, "New research conducted at the Natural Products Utilization Research Unit of USDA's Agricultural Research Service has found that raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, and huckleberries also contain a phytochemical called resveratrol, which is thought to help prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease."

Stephen Duke, Research Leader, Natural Products Utilization Research Unit, Oxford, MS, was quoted in recent issues of Science (May 21, 2004) and Chemical & Engineering News (May 24, 2004) about the new gene for producing glyphosate-resistant crops (glyphosate N-acetyltransferase).
