3rd Annual Fusion Center and Information Sharing Strategies Conference
July 8–9, 2009, in Washington, D.C.
Sponsored by the Homeland Defense Journal, attendees at this gathering will discuss the role of fusion centers and hear firsthand from "model" fusion centers that have clear operational and technical capabilities. Topics include methods of integrating disparate intelligence information, the effective use of career intelligence officers, strategies to consolidate selected fusion centers and the cost/benefit trade-offs, use of an all-hazards approach vs. specific criminal activity, interpreting and applying existing federal guidelines, the funding sources for fusion centers, the training and technology needs for fusion centers, analysis of civil liberties and privacy concerns, and fusion center best practices.

Entitled "Cyber Security for Energy and Communications," this event will examine the threats and hazards facing the energy, utilities, and telecommunications sectors, and will explore solutions involving mitigation, response, recovery, and private/public partnerships.
