Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that a local school and two libraries will be awarded a We the People Bookshelf of seventeen classic works on the theme "Picturing America" from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
Each school/library will receive a set of seventeen hardcover books related to this year's "Picturing America" theme. In addition, they will receive bonus resources such as a copy of Our White House: Looking In, Looking Out by The National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance and supplementary programming materials, including bookplates, bookmarks, and posters.
“These books and materials will help bring our nation’s history to life for students and library patrons,” said Costello. “I will continue to support efforts that support and enhance education in our communities.”
