COMMENTS OF YAHOO! CONCERNING CONSUMER ON-LINE PRIVACY-P954807 -- Yahoo! Fax -- To: Director, Federal Trade Commission Date: Apr 15, 1997 Pages: 7 Hello, This is to inform you of my interest in participating in the Federal Trade Commission's Public Workshop on Consumer Information Privacy. In particular, I am looking to take part in "Sessions Two: Consumer Online Privacy" and "Session Three: Children's Online Privacy". I am the Senior Producer at Yahoo! Among my responsibilities is the production of Yahooligans!, the Web Guide for Kids. Launched one year ago, this site is designed to be a place for children to safely explore the web in a fun, stimulating environment. In reply to questions 2.1/3.1 the only place within the Yahooligans! Site where information is collected is in the area called Club Yahooligans (see attached screen shot.) Here are the only requests for personal information in this site:
Children are encouraged to get permission from their parents before supplying any information. Their e-mail addresses are not used for any commercial mailings. In addition, Yahooligans! Supplies information for safety on the Internet for both children and parents. This includes listings of other sites focused on child safety and the ability to download software to block inappropriate sites. (See attached screens) Please let me know if there is any additional information you would like about Yahooligans! I look forward to participating in the privacy workshop.
