Next Space Science Update Features "Galaxy Building Blocks" 

The next Space Science Update (SSU), called "Galaxy Building Blocks," is scheduled for Wednesday, 
Sept. 4, at 3 p.m. EDT. The Update will feature new Hubble Space Telescope images which reveal what 
may be galaxies under construction. A team of scientists say the images show a long sought ancient 
population of "galactic building blocks" in the very early universe which eventually will merge into a few 
galaxy- sized objects. Their findings will be published in next week's issue of the journal Nature.

The SSU will originate from NASA Headquarters Auditorium, 300 E St., S.W., Washington, DC, and will 
be carried live on NASA TV with two-way question-and-answer capability for reporters covering the event 
from participating NASA centers.

NASA Television is broadcast on Spacenet 2, transponder 5, channel 9, C-Band, located at 69 degrees West 
longitude, with horizontal polarization. Frequency will be on 3880.0 megahertz, with audio on 6.8 
megahertz. Audio of the broadcast will be available on voice circuit at the Kennedy Space Center on 
407/867-1260.
