Passport Day in the USA

Saturday, March 28, 2009

10 am – 3 pm

San Francisco Passport Agency
   95 Hawthorne Street, 5th Floor
   San Francisco, CA 94105

The San Francisco Passport Agency is hosting a Passport Fair in San Francisco on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 10:00 until 3:00m to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.  For this day only, appointments are not required for entry into a passport agency and customers may request routine service processing.  However, if a customer requests expedited service, the $60.00 expedite fee does apply.  Applicants can expect to receive their passport in approximately 4 weeks for routine service and, if they chose to pay the expedite fee, about 2 to 3 weeks for expedited service.

The U.S. State Department has sole authority for issuing, renewing or replacing a passport. For an application and information, please visit the State Department website. If you need help or have questions with the passport application process, feel free to contact my office.

A pasport is REQUIRED for all American citizens, regardless of age, when traveling abroad.

A passport is NOT REQUIRED for direct travel within the 50 States (including Hawaii, Alaska and District of Columbia) and U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island).  However, if you are traveling to a U.S. State or Territory THROUGH another country (i.e. through Canada to Alaska or through Japan to Guam), a passport may be required.
