Rocky Mountain Pre-cast was recently nominated as a
pre-SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program)
participant, and has been recommended for inspection deferral status
from OSHA programmed inspections for the duration of their pre-SHARP
status. "The SHARP Program is the premier safety and health achievement
program for small business, particularly those within high hazard
industries."
"The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) grants the
award to small businesses who demonstrate exemplary performance in
safety and health within their respective industries". To be eligible a
company must complete a full service safety and health survey by the
OSHA On-Site Consultation Office that includes a comprehensive walk
through of their facility as well as a complete evaluation of their
written safety and health program. The company must then correct all
hazards identified in the survey within a reasonable amount of time and
in addition, show a reasonable probability of being able to achieve a
lower than average accident and injury/illness and restricted days away
rate reflected in their OSHA form 300. Once the company fulfills these
requirements, they may then submit a letter to the OSHA On-Site
Consultation Office to show their commitment to safety and their
interest in the SHARP program.
Besides having to undergo a comprehensive survey of their work area as
well as a complete evaluation of their written safety and health
program, companies vying for the SHARP award must also achieve a
passing evaluation using OSHA's Safety and Health Assessment form 33.
The evaluation form encompasses 58 line items, all of which are
evaluated separately. "We are happy to report that Rocky Mountain
Pre-cast has completed all of the SHARP program pre-requisites and will
be undergoing a 12 month challenge period before being recommended for
the SHARP Award" "We will be working closely with Rocky Mountain
to support them any way we can". "As one of only three other such
companies to achieve pre-SHARP deferral status in this region, we wish
them well and all the success".
