Land Cover Analysis Tool (LCAT) is becoming LCAT2
The original Land Cover Analysis Tool (LCAT) is being upgraded to
LCAT2.
In 2006, the Eastern Geographic Science Center began a joint project
to develop a custom application to provide enhanced public access to
USGS’s National Land Cover Database (NLCD). The resulting Land Cover
Analysis Tool (LCAT) allows users to quickly locate, display, and
download data from the National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) , including
the recently developed NLCD Change Product, which displays changes in
land cover between 1992 and 2001.
On July 8, 2009, we disabled LCAT1 and began accepting requests to
access the LCAT2 alpha preview page. We have made significant
improvements since then and are now making the page available without
request, but
please read the caveats below before going to LCAT2:
- Does not yet work in Internet
Explorer!
Currently, LCAT2 is being developed using Firefox 3.0 development
tools. There are many known bugs in Internet Explorer.
- If you are running Firebug 1.4.x
in Firefox 3.x, please disable it.
- This is an alpha release! It
is not fully stable. It is not complete. It still has a few bugs. It behaves
differently on different browsers. We are providing an advanced
preview so you can test it and provide feedback.
- You can view the list of “Known Issues” by clicking the link in
the page header. Likewise, you can view the current Application Status, and Change History.
- You can access the automated Feedback Forum by clicking the link
in the header titled “Suggest a Feature | Report a Bug”.
