Enhanced Security Measures at Three Dams in Idaho

Overview

The Bureau of Reclamation has announced that it will begin implementing improved security measures at three Idaho dams in 2008. The three structures include:

  • Lower Embankment of the Deer Flat Dams, an off-storage facility that impounds Lake Lowell near Nampa, Idaho.
  • Anderson Ranch Dam, on the south fork of the Boise River, about 28 miles northeast of Mountain Home, Idaho.
  • Palisades Dam, on the south fork of the Snake River, about 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Reclamation's long-term goal is to implement necessary corrective actions for security and safety, with minimal inconvenience to the affected public.
