On April 28, 2007 children between the ages of 5 and 11 and their families showed up to participate in The National Park Service's first ever Junior Ranger Day!
The day's activities included a tour of the fort and a "How I Helped the American Revolution" Program! This program allowed the kids to become a part of history as they learned first hand what life was like for soldiers living on the frontier of New York during the American Revolution.

This is a special day in the National Park Service. It is also called "Founder's Day." The day that the NPS as we know it was created. Children, parents, guardians, and friends came from all over to "Explore! Learn!, and Protect!"
What did they learn on Junior Ranger Day? In a Junior Ranger History Hunt about 40 children from ages 6 to 16 explored the park grounds, learned about the history of Fort Stanwix and the National Park Service, and then why it is important to protect such special places that preserve our history.
