Spring/Summer Internships in Refuge Biology We are not taking intern applications at this time. Gain valuable hands-on natural resource management experience. Roanoke River National Wildlife Refuge in northeastern North Carolina offers intern positions for the Spring and Summer. These are volunteer positions; however, housing and a $50/week stipend will be provided. Housing consists of a fully equipped house trailer located at a county campground next to the Cashie River in Windsor. Each intern will be covered under the Worker's Compensation Act for work related accidents/illnesses. Personal transportation is strongly recommended. Two 12 week intern sessions are being offered Spring (beginning early April) and Summer (beginning mid June). Starting and ending dates for the Spring and Summer sessions are negotiable. To qualify, applicants should be majoring in a field related to natural resources such as wildlife management, forestry, biology, zoology, or environmental studies. Applicants should be willing to do strenuous work outdoors in extreme weather conditions. A valid drivers license is required.
