RE: International Child Support Payments to the Slovak Republic

Dear Colleague:

This is to clarify and supplement the information in DCL-03-42 regarding procedures for transmitting child support collections to the Slovak Republic.

In DCL-03-42, OCSE reported that the Slovak Republic’s Central Authority can no longer receive child support collections sent by paper check from state IV-D agencies and has requested that IV-D agencies send collections by SWIFT (Society for Worldwide International Financial Telecommunication) wire transfer.

Responding to difficulties reported by certain state IV-D agencies regarding sending payments using SWIFT, the Slovak Republic has asked OCSE to inform states that payments should be sent directly to custodial parents, including by mailing a U.S. dollar check, if no other more efficient transmission method is available to the state IV-D agency.

OCSE continues working with states and reciprocating countries on a series of pilot projects to identify more efficient methods of electronically transferring international collections to and from the state disbursement units. OCSE will share the results of those pilot projects with state agencies.
