Dear Jodie Bernstein:

It has come to my attention that some serious changes are about to be made concerning the labeling of merchandise that is made in the United States. From the information I have heard I suspect there will be much deception resulting in products that are made elsewhere but the “finishing touches" are in the U.S. Due to the vast difference in wages and economic conditions of where some products originate, it is entirely possible that a very small part of that product added in our country end up being 75% of the total product cost. Although in reality the product is really being made elsewhere, thus resulting in wage and labor loss to the citizens of our own country.

When I shop and look for the label of where a product is made, I feel I need to be able to trust my government to tell me the truth, not a half-truth. I feel only those products that are made here have the right to be labeled that way. If it is only assembled here, I as a consumer have the right to know that without a major investigation. The label should reflect truthful and accurate information.

Sincerely,

Mary Jane John
