NH Dept. of Corrections Annual Plant Sale Scheduled
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announced the annual Career and Technical Education Horticulture Program plant sale will run May 18-22, 2009 at the greenhouse behind the North End Transitional Housing Unit in Concord. A wide variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetable plants will be sold to the public with proceeds to benefit the Horticultural Vocational and Career Development Program.
Flower varieties include pansies, violas, marigolds, impatiens, geraniums, petunias and snapdragons. Vegetables and fruits include cucumbers and multiple varieties of tomatoes. Herbs include Parsley and Basil.
Most six packs are $2.50. Some plants are priced higher depending on the variety. Customers may visit the greenhouse at 281 North State Street, Concord, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during any day of the sale. Stock is limited. Payment must be made by check only. No cash or credit cards will be accepted.
“Vocational classes such as the horticulture program provide offenders with the tools, resources, and skills that will help them obtain employment and assist in successful re-entry into the community,” Commissioner William L. Wrenn said.
