Other TrainingAsphalt Team Oversees Cost Effective SolutionsThe asphalt technology team helps oversee national asphalt research projects to achieve cost-effective results. Our staff works with Expert Task Groups (the ETGs)-which include representatives of the States, industry, and universities-to review ongoing national asphalt research projects that are funded directly by the FHWA or through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP). For NCHRP funded research, the ETGs provide input to the TRB Superpave Committee, which in turn advises the FHWA and AASHTO on the planning and conduct of the research programs. Currently active ETGs include the Superpave Binder ETG, coordinated by John D'Angelo of our staff; and the Mixture and Aggregate ETG, coordinated by John Bukowski.
