CERCLA
The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, known as Superfund, was enacted to address abandoned
hazardous waste sites in the U.S. The law has subsequently been amended, by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986
(SARA), and the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act of 2002.

National Contingency Plan (NCP)
The National Oil and Hazardous Substance Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) is the regulation that implements CERCLA and the Oil Pollution
Act under the response program. It provides the blueprint for responding to both oil spills and hazardous substances releases.
Subpart O
The Subpart O regulation applies to CERCLA-authorized grants to States. It complements EPA's general financial assistance regulation and
establishes requirements for Superfund cooperative agreements and Superfund States Contracts (SSCs) that are specfic requirements under
CERLCA. This regulation outlines use and payment of state cost sharing requirements in the Superfund program.
All Appropriate Inquiries
The All Appropriate Inquiries regulation establishes federal standards for the conduct of all appropriate inquiries into previous ownership,
uses and environmental conditions of a property for purposes of qualifying for certain landowner liability protections under CERCLA.
