- Research
and Reference Databases
A large number of electronic databases are included - many full text.
For assistance in searching, consult the Help menu which is an element
of nearly every database or a member of the Library reference staff at
6-0746.

Policy Resources From National Journal Group
This page was designed exclusively for DOT staff. It provides access to
nonpartisan news and analysis on important political and policy
developments.
- Electronic
Journal Database
This database gives DOT Employees desktop access to over 3000 full-text
electronic journals. You can read a specific issue or search EbscoHost for
multiple articles in your field.
- eBook
Collection via NetLibrary
eBooks are electronic books, available at your Desktop when YOU need
them, from wherever and whenever!
New titles from 2004-2005 have been added. Here are only some of the

Catalog
The DOT Library's Online Catalog contains over 80,000 bibliographic
records, with more being added each day. You can search or browse the
catalog by title, author, subject, or a number of other different
access points.
- Online
Digital Special Collections
Our Online Digital Special Collections consist of important historical
collections of documents which the Library has digitized in order to
broaden access. There will be many more digital special collections to
follow. If you have a collection of documents you would like digitized,
please contact the DOT Library to find out how we can partner with you.
Research Assistance
Our experienced library reference staff is available to assist
you in locating any information. Reference staff members can help
develop and refine searches and search strategies, locate information in
our print collections, and access online services such as Lexis/Nexis,
Dun & Bradstreet, Westlaw, and Dialog. We can provide complete company
reports and full text articles from over 5000 journals, periodicals, and
newspapers. Lastly, if by chance, our collections do not contain the
information or resource you are seeking, we can access the holdings of
over one million libraries through our Inter-Library Loan (ILL) network.
Training
Training the use of various databases and other resources is
regularly offered or can be scheduled for all DOT employees except for
FAA. Contact library staff to set
up a convenient date and time.
Circulation Services
New titles are listed in the New
Title List which is updated regularly.
Circulation periods vary based on the type of material being
checked out. Materials in the reference collection are intended for
in-library use. Library staff will be happy to assist you with checking
out materials.

Periodical Routing
The Library routes periodicals to all DOT employees except for
FAA upon request. Please contact a library staff member for further
information.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided for all DOT employees
except for FAA who need materials not located in the DOT Library
collection. Please see a circulation assistant or reference librarian if
you do not see what you need in the online
catalog, and they will borrow the item from another library. We can
borrow books and reports as well as periodical articles.
Requests can be submitted either in person or by using the ILL Request Form. Returning
all borrowed materials in good condition and on time to the DOT Library
is the responsibility of each requestor.
Photocopying
The library photocopier may be used for the duplication of
work-related materials.
Your Suggestions for the Library's Collection
We welcome suggestions for publications to be purchased for the
library collection. Recommendations for acquiring publications for the
DOT Library may be submitted either in person or by using the DOT Library
Recommendation Form.
