The Government Smart Card Interagency Advisory Board was tasked by NIST to conduct a
technical analysis of the proposed Federal Information Processing Standard 201 and Special
Publication 800-73 that specify the Federal Identity Credential and Interoperable Smart Card
to meet the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Policy for a Common Identification Standard
for Federal Employees and Contractors for access to Federal Buildings and Information Systems.

analysis and speed up the rewrite of SP 800-73 Special Publication 800-73 – Integrated Circuit
Card for Personal Identity Verification. The Core.gov application was used to coordinate the
work of 270 Federal Agency officials and Industry Partners across the US to satisfy the aggressive
