A data assimilation occurred on May 6 in the Sierra Nevada, in Colorado, and from central Nevada through southern Idaho. In the Sierra Nevada, underdone precipitation and overdone snowmelt during the past week necessitated the addition of 2 to 4 inches of snow water. Up to 2 inches of water was added at higher elevations in the Great Basin to the southern rim of the Snake River Valley in Idaho, mainly due to overdone modeled snowmelt. In central Colorado to southern Wyoming, as with the Sierra Nevada, underdone precipitation and overdone snowmelt caused the addition of 2 to 3 inches of snow water. Slower-than-actual snowmelt in the past few days in the San Juan mountains forced the addition of around 4 inches of water.
