Deck the Halls Safely to Keep your Holidays Merry and Bright

Decorative lights add to the festive spirit of the holiday season. However, overloaded circuits can quickly turn the mood from festive to frightening. To keep your holiday season merry and bright, exercise the following precautions when decorating your home for the holidays:

  • Make sure all wiring on decorative lights is in good shape
  • Replace burned out bulbs before hanging lights
  • Don't run extension cords under throw rugs or carpeting
  • Be careful when burning candles; never leave children and candles unattended
  • Keep natural trees away from direct sunlight and water them daily to help retain freshness
  • If you can pull needles off the branch of a tree with little or no resistance, remove the tree from the house...or at least refrain from turning on the tree lights!

From all of us to all of you!
Have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!
