How much will it cost?

Your title and registration fees depend on several factors, including the weight of your vehicle, where you live, and the type of license plates you are renewing.

• If you are registering a vehicle or boat for the first time, please contact a vehicle licensing office near you to find out exactly how much it will cost.
• If your tabs are due to expire within 6 months, you can calculate your vehicle tab fees to find out how much it will cost to renew your tabs.

Passenger vehicle registration fees

Inspection fees (all vehicles)

Emissions testing fee (every 2 years in Clark, King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane counties)	$15 (Paid at test station at time of test)
One-time fee to verify the vehicle identification number (VIN) when registering an out-of-state vehicle in Washington for first time	$15 (Paid to DOL with registration fees)
One-time fee for WA State Patrol inspection of salvaged, rebuilt, or homemade vehicles	Inspection only: $65 Inspection with VIN assignment: $70 (Paid to DOL with registration fees)
