GETTING STARTED
- Go to ‘ jobs.mt.gov’ NOTE: Do not enter ‘www’ before the web site address.
SEARCH JOBS WITHOUT REGISTERING
- You may look at the jobs without registering with jobs.mt.gov. Clicking on this area will allow you to view the job information and requirements without entering any personal information. However, to see How to Apply for the majority of jobs you will need to login and register with this site.
NEW USERS
- If you are a new user, click on ‘ Job Seekers sign up here’ on the left hand side of the screen.
- Create User Name and Password .
- This must be a unique user name between 4-11 characters or numbers.
- If you want to use your name as a user name, try your full name or with initials, etc. If you enter ‘Nancy’ as a user name, it is more than likely already being used.
- The user name and password are case sensitive. Words must be typed in the exact same way each time including spaces, lower case and capital letters. (i.e. NANCYESMITH or nancyesmith or NancyESmith)
- Enter SSN with NO dashes
- Enter birth date with 2-digit month, 2-digit day and 4-digit year with slashes in between dates (Ex. 10/18/1966)
NOTE : Employers CANNOT view your Social Security Number, Birthdate, Race, Disabilities, or other confidential information when viewing your resume. Confidential information is being collected for statistical purposes only and will not affect the services you receive.
REGISTERED USERS
- If you have already registered online, enter your user name and password. Remember this is case sensitive. Words must be typed in the exact same way each time including spaces, lower case and capital letters. (i.e. NANCYESMITH or nancyesmith or NancyESmith).
- If you have forgotten your user name or password, you can reset it by clicking on ‘ Forgot User Name / Password ’ underneath the login box.
NOTE : We do have your user name on your file in our office, if needed, but we do not have access to your password.
ENTERING INFORMATION
** Be sure to enter ALL information in the Seeker Info, Employment, Education, Skills and Vet/Misc. tabs ** This will allow you to view referral information ( How to Apply) on jobs you are qualified for. Some employers request that only qualified applicants be allowed to view their referral instructions. If you do not enter all of your information, your name might not come up when either our office or individual employers do a job search.
NOTE : If you click on How to Apply and it states you are not qualified, look at the qualifications you are missing and decide if you meet these qualifications. If you do, you will need to enter this information in your file before you can receive referral instructions.

HOME
JOB SEARCH
- You can enter a job order number or a keyword in this field. To search by Workforce Center, Zip Code, County or Regions, please go to the Search tab in your file.
- Make sure to use your mouse to click on the search button after entering your job order number or keyword. If you hit [enter] on your keyboard, this will just take you to the search page.
- If you have a job order number from our office or online, enter it in this field to bring up the job description.
- You can also enter a keyword such as construction, truck driver, etc. to bring up jobs that match throughout the state of Montana.
VIEW RESUME
- Once your information is entered, you can check your file by clicking ‘View resume’ on the left hand side under your name and address.
- This is what employers will view if you choose for employers to view your information in the Seeker Info tab and your file comes up in their search.
- Make sure your entries are error-free and adequately represent your experience and qualifications.

SEARCH FOR JOBS
Once ALL information has been entered, you can begin searching for jobs that you qualify for.
You can search by County, by Workforce Center or by Region.
Zip Code
- Click here to search by zip code. This will only include jobs within this zip code.
Within ___ miles of Zip Code
- Click here to include areas within a certain mile range of this zip code.
County
- Click on a county in the map to see jobs posted in that county in the last week. If no jobs are found in that county, you will need to do another search.
Workforce Center
- Click on a Job Service Workforce Center's name in the map to see jobs posted in that Job Service Workforce Center in the last week. This will include all areas covered by this Workforce Center.
Region
- Click on a region in the map to see jobs posted in that region in the last week.
Enter words to search for in jobs
- If you have a job order number from our office or online, enter it in this field to bring up the job description.
- You can also enter a keyword such as construction, truck driver, etc. to bring up jobs that match throughout the state of Montana.
Save Searches
- Once you have completed a search, you may save it to use again at a later time. To do this, simply scroll to the bottom of the page where you see Save This Search. Make sure the correct keyword is entered in the box, and then click on Save New. When you return at a later time, you will only have to Select Search to Load on the Search tab, choose one and click on search.
Search by Location
- You may search jobs within a Zip code, within a County, by Workforce Center, region or Statewide.
- Click on use map to assist in finding a County, Workforce Center or Region.
Search Details
- Using this section will narrow your results. To look at all openings we recommend leaving this section as it comes up.
Minimum Wage
- Checking this box will only allow you to look at jobs at this wage or higher.
NOTE : Some jobs will pay more depending on experience and qualifications, but will be listed at a lower starting wage. In order to not miss these listings, please mark as low as you would consider or leave blank.
New Jobs in Last ___ Days
- This section is helpful if you have looked at jobs in the last few days and only want to see what has posted since that time.
Shift
- If you are only looking for days, swing (afternoons/evenings), graveyard or rotating positions you may choose one of these to pull up only positions that match your criteria.
Availability
- If you are only looking for full time, part time, temporary or seasonal work, you may choose one of these to pull up only positions that match your criteria.
Days Off
- Checking one of these boxes will omit any jobs that have these days marked on the job order.
Sort Jobs
- Newest Jobs First – Will list the newest jobs we have received first.
- Job Title – Will list jobs alphabetically by title.
Occupational Categories
All Categories
- You will need to choose other criteria in the sections above, then look at all job categories.

NOTE : If you are still currently working, leave end date blank. It is extremely important to enter dates of employments in order to show how much experience you have in this type of work.

- If you are allowing employers to view your file, do you want this particular work history to show on your resume?
*ONET Job Title
- Click on ‘select job category’ to choose the category that best fits your type of job. Once you find the correct category, click on it to find the sub-category that describes your job title.
NOTE : If you are having trouble finding the correct ONET Code, just choose one you feel is close, then call our office and we will be able to correct it for you.
Job Description
- Write a summary of your job duties and equipment or tools used to do the job. Be specific about your duties. (i.e. do not just write ‘waitressed’. You provided customer service, waited on customers, served food and drinks, operated a cash register, etc.) Be sure you check for spelling and grammar errors.
DESIRED EMPLOYMENT
- Let us know what type of jobs you are interested in.
- Choose from a drop down list of titles and subtitles.
- Enter the number of months of experience or training that you have in this area. If you do not have any, just enter 0.
Note : The maximum number of months that can be entered is 99. If you have over 8 years and 3 months of experience and/or training, just enter 99 months.
