New Jersey Long Range Transportation Plan |
Overview
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ TRANSIT recognize New Jersey's growing population and changing transportation
needs. In order to meet future needs, the agencies plan for both the short term and the long term.
Federal and state laws require NJDOT and NJ TRANSIT to develop a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRP). The LRP
identifies how New Jersey's transportation system can meet user expectations for the next 25 years.
It establishes a vision and policy structure, sets forth strategies, provides a framework for directing investment and identifies the
financial resources to sustain the plan's vision.
The Current Plan: 2025
Transportation Choices 2025 (pdf 12.3m) was released in 2002.
In addition to establishing the state’s vision, goals and objectives for its transportation system, it also highlights current areas of
concern, anticipates future problems, develops strategies to address both current and future problems, and provides New Jerseyans with the
best transportation system possible.
The Draft Plan: 2030
NJDOT, NJ TRANSIT and their consultants completed the draft release of the 2030 New Jersey Long Range Transportation Plan,
Transportation Choices 2030, which is now available for Public Comments.
