Applause

The Music School of Delaware was awarded the inaugural City of Wilmington ACCESS Award. Mayor James M. Baker presented the award in recognition of the Music School’s long-standing tradition of serving people of all ages with special needs.

The National Endowment for the Arts announced that it is appointing Laura A. Scanlan, principal with Creative Cultural Strategies and former executive director of the Delaware Division of the Arts, as the agency's director of state and regional partnerships.

Congratulations to the Delaware Theatre Company and Ferris School for Boys for receiving the Ted and Stevie Wolf Award for New Approaches to Collaborations from the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia for their production of No Child this past season.

2010 Writers Retreat

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 Delaware Poetry and Nonfiction Writers Retreat.

Spend a weekend of writing with JoAnn Balingit, Delaware’s Poet Laureate and writers Tama Baldwin and Frank Giampietro. Activities will include discussions, workshops, writing, and more.

2010 Individual Artist Fellows Announced

Sixteen individual Delaware artists are being recognized for the high quality of their artwork in the visual arts, literature, music and folk arts. Artists were selected from towns throughout the state including Ardencroft, Bear, Middletown, Newark, Dover, Rehoboth Beach, and Wilmington. Click here to read more.

The Kresge Foundation announces today a new national strategy for its Arts and Culture Program that fosters the long-term financial stability of arts and cultural organizations, supports artists’ services, and helps to integrate arts and culture institutions and activities into effective community building. The Nonprofit Finance Fund has created a comprehensive "Tough Times" Package of rapid-response services available to nonprofit organizations, regardless of size, to assist them in dealing with the recession.

The Meyer Foundation based in Washington, D.C. has created a web portal that lists learning opportunities, tips, tactics, and strategies to help nonprofits navigate through the current economic downturn.
