How do I get a Mentoring Visit?

Refuges that have a prime potential for a successful community partnership are invited to submit an application for a Mentoring Visit. Applications are sent out to refuges in January and are due approximately 8 weeks later and are then reviewed by Mentor Team members. Mentor sites are selected in the Spring with visits occurring throughout the rest of the year.

Selection criteria include commitment of the refuge manager, existence of a core group of interested private citizens, and overall potential. Upon selection, two mentors, one from the nonprofit sector and one from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will make arrangements for a site visit.
