Banding Schedule Evaluation

The Banding Schedule Evaluation reports back to the bander on the data received on schedules at the Bird Banding Laboratory. Any changes or corrections to the data, requests for changes on future schedules, or comments from the editing section are on the evaluation. Questions or changes on biological data do not appear on the evaluation at this time but are sent under separate cover.

The BBL does not change or alter data without a reason. Banders should always check carefully to see what data was changed and why. If any change was made that was not correct, please call it to the attention of Editing by email to Karen_Jones@usgs.gov or FAX (301-497-5717) with a copy of the evaluation. We will either clarify the action taken or correct the data as needed. Direct your questions on editing topics to Karen Jones, Editing Section Supervisor. Questions on status code and biological topics should be directed to Danny Bystrak, Banding Biologist. DBystrak@usgs.gov

How you can help us with editing your schedules

• Use a computer program and send your data in on a diskette to eliminate transcription errors.
• If you can't use a computer, type your schedules.
• Always verify data submitted by subpermittees especially if they prepare their own schedules.
• Do not FAX your schedules.
• Please send the original and not a copy, the document will last longer.
• Double check all your data (especially the BAND NUMBERS).
• Indicate new locations with an asterisk by the location box!
• If you are unsure about a lat-long for a location, send a copy of a detailed map with the banding site marked, and we will provide the lat-long!
• Don't guess! Contact Karen Jones or Danny Bystrak after carefully checking this document for instructions.
