Purpose
Determine geologic framework in shallow-water setting.
Collect the highest resolution mapping data possible from shoreline
to max depth of approx 10 m. Ultimate goal is to fully characterize
geology of seafloor and link with geochemical/hydrologic research.
Information to be Derived
Seismic;Bathymetry;Sonar;
Notes
This project will apply ALL of our geophysical and sampling
tools to a small area in shallow water (mostly less than 5-m deep).
Although 4 months are booked for this survey, actual survey time(s)
will depend on weather. Initial effort will use standard gear on
Raphael (SubX, sidescan, seismic) in water depths > 2 m. This will
require an estimated 6-8 days of survey time. Later will deploy
additional seismic systems (0512i, boomer, sparker, etc) in selected
areas. After completing work with Raphael, will survey with ASV in
shallowest parts of study area. Finally, will collect samples and
bottom photography with mini-SEABOSS.
