The Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture (AMJV) operates as a partner of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Migratory Bird Program in the service of the Joint Venture Management Board. The Joint Venture Coordinator and associated staff are responsible for facilitating, guiding, and leading the various working groups created by the Board in pursuing all facets of Joint Venture implementation. The concentrated conservation efforts is in the Appalachian Mountains Bird Conservation Region which includes all or portions of eight ecoregions. The administrative area encompasses 103 million acres and contains some of the largest expanses of deciduous forest remaining in the eastern United States.
