SouthEast U.S. Atlantic Coastal Ocean Observing System

Document Actions

Seacoos.org is an archival site. Seacoos.org existed as the primary portal for aggregated coastal ocean observations in the Southeastern U.S. from September 2003 until September 2008.

SEACOOS assets, including the portal for ocean observations, have been transferred to the Southeastern Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA). Please consult Secoora.org for all you future ocean observations needs in the Southeastern U.S..

MODIS satellite image downlinked by SEACOOS partner USF and composited by SEACOOS partner USC. Sampled October 18, 2005 to show an unseasonal high pressure cell with clear skies, while tropical storm Wilma is in the Caribbean.

SEACOOS Partnership

SEACOOS is a collaborative university partnership that collects, manages, and disseminates integrated regional ocean observations and information products for the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Funding for this effort has been provided by the Office of Naval Research.

Data Access and Mapping – For user-friendly access to regional SEACOOS data products including near real-time and time series ocean observations and modeling products, visit our data access and mapping pages.

Model Output and Mapping – For user-friendly access to ocean condition forecasts in the SEACOOS region, computer models provide currents and surface elevations, please visit our modeling pages.

Community and Classroom – For ocean users, teachers, and other educators to learn more about how SEACOOS information can be used or incorporated into classroom and other educational programs, visit our community and classroom pages.

Research and Technology – For updates about completed and ongoing research efforts associated with SEACOOS observations, modeling, or information management, please visit our research activities pages.
