Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act

Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act (7 USC 1000, 1006, 1010-1012; 50 Stat. 522) as amended -- Section 31 of the Act of July 22, 1937, directs the Secretary of Agriculture to develop a program of land conservation and utilization in order to correct maladjustments in land use and thus assist in such things as control of soil erosion, reforestation, preservation of natural resources and protection of fish and wildlife.

Some early refuges and hatcheries were established under authority of this Act.
