On Sunday, Feb.15, 2009 Agassiz Refuge staff members Gary Tischer, Becky Carlson, Darrin Franco and Refuge Volunteer Shaun Calrson made a 45-minute presentation on identifying mammal tracks, scats and furs to 19 Marshall County 4-H students at the Newfolden Community Center, Newfolden, Minn.  Each student also made a plaster cast of a mammal track from the rubber molds refuge staff supplied.  Staff demonstrated how to mix the plaster of paris and water to make the correct liquid consistency before the students mixed and poured it into their mold.  They took their plaster of paris mammal tracks home with them.

The information provided will help the 4-Hers in completing a 4-H mammal project for the Marshall County Fair.  This was one of five subjects that the 4-Hers could attend that day.
