About 200 people came to Wallkill River NWR to enjoy the 2nd annual NOC Night. Despite the heavy rain that forced the presentation indoors, the event still allowed children and adults an opportunity to learn about native nocturnal wildlife living in and around the refuge. NOC Night also utilized the refuge's new Wallkill River maze, where some of the costumed creatures awaited the evening's guided tour groups.  Anchored by more than 30 dedicated volunteers and refuge staff members, these animal actors, in masterfully designed costumes, came out of their hiding spots to display their unique behavior and habits.  A lively interactive time ensued as the guests were encouraged to ask questions of animals. This event, a non-scarry alternative to Halloween, is an educational and fun event for both parents and children.
