Cathy Carnes, Green Bay Ecological Services Field Office, gave two presentations in June on the Hine’s emerald dragonfly, a federally-listed endangered species.

The first presentation was given at the Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, and the second at the Neville Museum in Green Bay.

The presentation at the Crossroads was sponsored by the Door County Environmental Council.  Dr. Dan Soluk assisted with that presentation and provided the public an opportunity to view live Hine’s emerald dragonfly larvae.

A total of about 50 people were provided information on the life history, ecology, and conservation needs of this rare dragonfly.

The presentations are anticipated to garner support for the conservation of the dragonfly in Door County, Wisconsin, where the best habitats and largest populations of this species are known to occur.
