ORDER NO. 88-1
WILDERNESS
PACIFIC SOUTHWEST REGION
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) each of the following is prohibited in any National Forest Wilderness under my Jurisdiction.
- Entering or being in the Agua Tibia. Cucamonga, Dinkey Lakes, Desolation, Hauser, Hoover, Pine Creek, San Gorgonio, San Jacinto or Trinity Alps Wildernesses without possessing a valid Wilderness Visitor's Permit. (36 CFN 261.57(a)).
- Using a trail, campsite, or other area in any Wilderness by a group larger than 25 persons, or group size less than 25 persons as stated in a Forest Supervisor's order, without possessing a permit authorizing such use, issued by the Forest Supervisor. (36 CFR 261.58(f)).
- Entering or being in the Carson-Iceberg, Emigrant, or Mokelumne Wildernesses during the period May 25 to September 30 each year, or the San Marco Canyon for the purpose of camping without possessing a valid Wilderness Visitor's Permit. (36 CFR 261.57(a)).
- Entering or being in the Ansel Adams, John Muir, Kaiser, and Golden Trout Wildernesses for the purpose of camping without possessing a valid Wilderness Visitor's Permit. (36 CFR 261.57(a)).
- Entering or being in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness from the East Fork of the San Gabriel River Canyon without possessing a valid Wilderness Visitor's Permit. (36 CFR 261.57(a))
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261.
This supersedes Order No 87-2, dated July 31, 1987.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment for not more than six months or both. (16 USC 551).
