HARTFORD MAN CHARGED WITH PCP DISTRIBUTION Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that a federal grand jury in New Haven has returned an Indictment charging JOSUE MALDONADO, age 26, of 97 Amity Street, Hartford, with one count of possession with intent to distribute phencyclidine (“PCP”). The Indictment was returned yesterday, July 25. The Indictment alleges that, on or about January 10, 2007, MALDONADO knowingly possessed PCP. If convicted, MALDONADO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $1,000,000. U.S. Attorney O’Connor stressed that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. This matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hartford Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by James I. Glasser, Counsel to the United States Attorney. | |
