NEW HAVEN WOMAN INDICTED FOR GIVING FALSE TESTIMONY TO FEDERAL GRAND JURY Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that federal grand jury sitting in New Haven has returned a one-count Indictment charging SHANA MOSELEY, 22, of Hallock Avenue, New Haven, with making false declarations before the grand jury. The Indictment was returned yesterday, March 26. If convicted, MOSELEY faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of $250,000. The Indictment alleges that, on October 23, 2007, MOSELEY gave knowingly false testimony to the grand jury in connection with its investigation of Thomas Julius. On October 23, the grand jury returned an Indictment charging Julius with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. He is awaiting trial. U.S. Attorney O’Connor stressed that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial at which it is the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. This matter was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah P. Karwan. | |
