HARTFORD CRACK DEALER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MICHAEL DRUMMOND, 28, formerly of Mansfield Street, Hartford, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release. On August 22, 2007, DRUMMOND pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”). According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, this matter stems from an investigation conducted by the Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force. In July and August 2006, a cooperating witness made three controlled purchases of crack cocaine from DRUMMOND. Each transaction was surveilled by law enforcement officers and conversations surrounding the transactions were recorded. DRUMMOND has been detained since his arrest in March 2007. U.S. Attorney O’Connor commended the investigation of this matter that was conducted by the Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force, notably the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hartford Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert M. Spector. | |
