Faith-based and community organizations reveal the heart and soul of America every day. We must recognize and encourage the vital role they play in strengthening communities and improving the lives of people they touch.

Welcome
Welcome to the U.S. Department of Commerce Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. The Center works to improve the ability of faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) to fully participate in Department funding programs, while upholding the Department’s mission of creating the conditions for economic growth and opportunity by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, competitiveness, and stewardship in the social service sector.
The Center aims to provide information and training to FBCOs, but does not make funding decisions. Those decisions are made through procedures established by each Department grant program, typically involving a competitive process. No grant money is set aside for faith-based organizations. FBCOs compete on an equal basis with all other applicants for Department funds.
