Partnering with you, the public, is key to the successful management of the Lava Beds. 

 

Lava Beds National Monument is working on a new General Management Plan (GMP). The last plan was completed in 1996. The General Management Plan will help us make decisions on directions for resource management, visitor use and interpretation, and facilities management. It gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts, ideas, and vision so that together we can keep Lava Beds a wonderful resource for the future.

For more information about the GMP process, please view the National Park Service Planning, Environment and Public Comment website (or PEPC). It provides information about current plans and related documents. This website will be updated whenever we have new information to share with you.

There will be opportunities throughout the planning process to share your thoughts and ideas about the Lava Beds. Please let us know if you would like to be included on the mailing list for this planning project.

Blue Flax  

Did You Know?
Blue flax (linum lewisii) is a tall baby-blue flower that only opens its blooms during cool mornings in late spring. As the day warms, they fold closed and virtually disappear.
