FOR KIDS IN THE PARK
Programs: In the summer, there are ranger-led Junior Ranger programs for kids 7-12 and ranger-led talks for the entire family at the Loomis Museum. Check the online schedule of events or the summer issue of the free park newspaper and join us!
Junior Ranger Program: Kids ages 7-12 can participate in this program! To get started, download a booklet online [1.4Mb pdf file], or pickup a Junior Ranger booklet at the Loomis Museum, or the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. You will need to turn in the completed booklet to a park ranger in person at the park. Follow the instructions and have fun!
Chipmunk Club: Kids of any age can participate in this program! To get started, pickup a Chipmunk Club booklet at the Loomis Museum, or the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. Follow the instructions and have fun!

Did You Know?
The reddish color sometimes observed on top of snow at Lassen Volcanic NP snow is a living organism called snow algae. When snow begins to thaw, these microscopic organisms spring to life. They function as a primary food source and are being studied for their cancer-fighting properties.
