Inherited mutations can influence a person's risk of developing many types of
cancer in addition to breast cancer. For example, certain inherited mutations
have been described that increase a person's risk of developing colon, kidney,
bone, skin or other specific forms of cancer. But these hereditary conditions
are thought to be involved in only 10 percent or fewer of all cancer cases.
