Mission

The mission of the Integrated Disease Surveillance unit (IDS) is to contribute to the improvement of epidemic preparedness and response and to the control of communicable diseases in the African Region. 

Functions

 

Support countries in the development, adaptation and implementation of communicable diseases integrated surveillance strategy

Development of a computerized database for the surveillance of priority communicable diseases

Generation of information on communicable diseases

Information sharing through the publication of periodic feedback and epidemiological bulletins

Support DDC program in surveillance activities
