NOTE: The unemployment rate is the percentage of the total labor force population that is jobless, looking for a job, and available for work. Race categories exclude persons of Hispanic ethnicity. Estimates for Asian and Pacific Islander differ from those presented in table 7.2a, where these categories were combined in order to be consistent in the presentation of trend data from 1997 through 2007.
