Overview
Croatia's successful transition to a stable, fully democratic country with a strong economy is integral to achieving the U.S. core policy goal of stability in Southeast Europe and serves other important American interests, such as combating terrorism and trafficking in persons.
Since the inception of its program in 1992, USAID has delivered more than $320 million in assistance to Croatia through a comprehensive program that has facilitated economic and fiscal reform, strengthened democratic institutions, created agribusiness programs and established a wide range of professional training. The U.S. has supported Croatia’s entry into the EU and NATO through USAID programming. FY 2006 was the final year of USAID’s program budget for Croatia; USAID’s assistance program in Croatia will cease in 2008.
