Fort Raleigh National Historic Site Needs You! We need your time and your talents…as a volunteer. Interested in meeting people from all over the world? Want to learn about the fascinating beginnings of our country? Do you like sharing what you know with an interested audience? Would you enjoy working in an office that is surrounded by countless stories including early colonization, the Civil War, the Freedmen’s Colony and radio experimentation? Then you should become a National Park Service VIP (Volunteer-In-Parks) at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Below are just a few descriptions of our volunteer opportunities. Volunteer Opportunities Visitor Education: Greet and introduce visitors to the site; answer visitor questions; operate audiovisual and public address equipment related to the park orientation video and announcements in the facility; use the telephone for administrative and visitor information reasons; monitor and report safety concerns; receive and report lost or found items; monitor and keep informational brochures stocked and available to the visiting public; and other duties of similar nature. Conduct Administrative Duties: Perform administrative tasks such as filing, stuffing envelopes, Xeroxing, reviewing text, maintaining records, answering correspondence, and maintaining school and tour group reservations.
