In an effort to continue to enhance the visitor's experience in Anacostia Park the North Field will be closed for visitors used for a period of 18 (eighteen) to 24 (twenty-four) months for construction. During this time reservations for cookouts, special events and field play will not be accepted for the North Field.

By the conclusion of the construction the park will be enhance with the arrival of a new bike/walk trail connecting it with existing trails in Washington DC.

Did You Know?
The Ellipse was home to one of the country's earliest baseball parks. President Abraham Lincoln, missed one of his weekly Cabinet meetings to attend a game on September 18 1861 where the Brooklyn Excelsiors beat the Washington Nationals. The score was 33-28.
