The New York State Board of Regents voted Monday, July 20, 2009 to elect Dr. David Milton Steiner as New York State Education Commissioner and President of the University of the State of New York. Dr. David Milton Steiner will assume his new post on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Regents Appoint Carole Huxley as Interim Commissioner

The Board of Regents announced April 21 that Carole F. Huxley has been appointed as Interim New York State Education Commissioner, effective July 1, 2009. She will begin service on May 15, working alongside current Commissioner Mills until he steps down at the end of June.
