ORDER OF SELECTION CHANGES EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2011

Since October 6, 2008, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) has been in an Order of Selection in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended. This means that DVR is unable to provide services to all eligible individuals with disabilities and must place eligible persons who have not yet completed an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) onto a deferred services list, also known as a waitlist.

There are three (3) priority categories that are determined by the severity of the individual's disability.

The Priority 1 category is for those found to have "the Most Significant Disability." Priority 2 is those assessed to have a "Significant Disability" and Priority 3 is all other eligible individuals.

Currently all clients in Priority 1 category are being provided services.

Effective April 1, 2011, Priority 2 category was opened and since then, approximately 50 clients in this category are being contacted in chronological order by date of application.

These clients receive letters asking them to contact their counselor for planning their vocational goals and working on their Individualized Plan for Employment.

Currently there are 848 clients in Priority 2 category.

Clients in Priority 3 category will continue being placed onto the deferred services list.

A document has been created to answer some of the questions regarding Order of Selection.
