The working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and
Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings on Oct. 7 and 8 in Room N-5437
A&B at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W.,
Washington, D.C.
On Oct. 7, the Working Group on Studying the Merits of
Defined Contributions vs. Defined Benefit Plans and the Working Group Studying
Employer Assets in ERISA Employer-Sponsored Plans will meet.
The former group will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon to draft
its final report, which will address the formation of defined benefit plans for
small businesses. The latter group will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to draft its
report on employer assets in ERISA employer-sponsored plans.
On Oct. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Working Group
Studying Soft Dollar Arrangements and Commission Recapture will meet from 9:30
a.m. to noon to begin drafting its final report and recommendations for the
secretary.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address the council
should submit 20 copies of a written statement before Sept. 30 to Sharon
Morrissey, executive secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of
Labor, Suite N-5677, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Oral
presentations are limited to 10 minutes, but witnesses may submit an extended
statement for the record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify may submit
20 copies of their statement to the above address. Individuals with
disabilities who need special accommodations should also contact the department
by Sept. 30 at the address above.
The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members
appointed by the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in
the employee benefit area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the
secretary on the administration of ERISA.
