Purpose
Lake Pontchartrain Geologic Framework and Coastal Processes study was to
analyze environmental change focusing on evaluating environmental conditions,
sediment quality, coastal processes and geomorphology.
Information to be Derived
Vibracores used to derive high-resolution sedimentation patterns post
Pleistocene geologic framework. Seismic used to characterize near surface
geology, as it relates to sediment inventory.
Summary
A total of 104 miles of seismic data and 29 vibracores were collected
for 97GFP01. Bathymetry data were collected from July 26 - Aug 3 and Boomer
data (17 lines) were collected from August 7 - 11.
Notes
- These FACS logs were generated by Chandra Dreher in June of 2003,
using the handwritten logbooks and personal accounts of the scientist and
crewmembers. Noted were some Nav equipment problems, which LORAN was used for
Nav during the Seismic survey.
